June, 2020 – In accordance with BC health protocols and precautions, GVMA has been closed since mid-March 2020. Staff are now re-entering the museum to prepare for safe and gradual re-entry for members of the public.

 

The first phase is the re-opening of the Archives to the public, by appointment. We look forward to moving into the next phase of re-opening with you.

The Greater Vernon Archives has the distinction of being among the most respected research facilities in the province. Each year, well in excess of 700 research inquiries from individuals in the province and many other parts of the country come through our archives.

GVMA staff pivoted quickly in creating and developing online resources and programming for Spring and Summer 2020. We are researching, creating and developing more online content and programs for Fall 2020 — stay tuned for more online content & virtual exhibits to come!

GVMA houses a diverse collection of over 30,000 artifacts. This includes natural history specimens, clothing, paintings, a 1910 carriage, the original Post Office clock, and a mysterious whale bone.
