GVMA staff is in the process of Cultural Safety Training with respected Syilx Elders, Christina Marchand and Eric Mitchell, of the Okanagan Nation.
Marchand and Mitchell have dedicated their life’s work to educating non-Indigenous people about the impacts of racism and intergenerational trauma to begin the process of working toward reconciliation and future collaboration.
To foster further understanding of the history and culture of the Syilx People, the Okanagan Online Book Club will focus on books authored by and about Indigenous Syilx People of the Okanagan.
When you join the Okanagan Book Club, we’ll send you a link to an online meeting that you can join for free. Discussion questions, book reviews, and author interviews will be linked to from each book’s Okanagan Book Club page.
